Event management students aut AUT University are partnering up with Got to Get Out to host an adventure week to raise money for a scholarship programme.
As part of an assessment, students are working with this client to create an adventure week in efforts to raise money for their chosen cause. This year it is an adventure scholarship.
The scholarship is run by Got to Get Out., a social enterprise which aims to get people outside for the improvement of their mental and physical health. Recipients are people who cannot afford to get out and do activities.
AUT event management student Adele Thomson say students wanted to create an event that would “bring the most adventure and adrenaline to everyone no matter what their skills are”.a
Thomson’s group will go white-water rafting at Vector Wero Whitewater Park, the first artificial whitewater park in New Zealand.
The park is run by Second Nature Charitable Trust, which invests in educational programmes and giving back to communities.
“The most ever raised was $15,000 for Make a Wish Foundation,” said paper leader Alison Booth.
Other events will also be run by students, such as sunset kayaking, sailing and a wrap-up roof-top party.
Rapid Riding will be held on May 12 and tickets cost between $90 and $120
