City painted green and yellow by Auckland landmarks

Three Auckland landmarks are being lit up in yellow and green like daffodils with the Harbour Bridge, Sky Tower and Eden Park supporting the Cancer Society.

It is the second year the Sky Tower and Eden Park have supported Daffodil Day, but it is the first time the Harbour Bridge has been illuminated too.

Auckland Cancer Society marketing and communications manager Paul Hayes said the purpose of the “icons” shining bright is to jog memories that it is time for their annual appeal.

“It reminds people that Daffodil Day is on Friday and to dig deep in their pockets and get a daffodil [to] support the Cancer Society,” he said.

Mr Hayes said donations this year will go towards funding accommodation for cancer patients and their families visiting from outside Auckland, and providing them with nursing and psychology services.

The bridge is being lit by Vector Lights, in a partnership between Vector and Auckland Council.

Vector general manager Mark Toner said the power supplier was pleased to support and recognise the important work of the Cancer Society.

Daffodil Day is tomorrow and street collectors will be collecting donations in the next two days.
