Many people deliberate for years over what tattoo to get, while others pick one off a studio’s wall in mere moments.

Through its monthly 'flash days', Auckland tattoo studio Seventh Day Studio is tempting customers into making some quick decisions.

Seventh Day Studio hosts Flash Thursday on the first Thursday of every month.

Flash tattoos are traditionally pre-designed pieces that commonly feature on the walls of tattoo studios.

“It’s kind of like a sticker. You just pick it off the wall and [get it tattooed] on your body,” said 22-year-old tattooed florist Samantha Keen.

Flash Thursday differs from typical flash tattoo days because each design is an original and used only once.

Tattoo artist Minnie Fanselow, 27, said a unique tattoo is “more special for the person who has it when it’s just theirs”.

Sarah Birdsall, 27, attended the studio’s last Flash Thursday event, and said her fox design is her best tattoo ever.

“I like the fact it is originally drawn, that no one else is going to have it.”

The studio will expand its opening hours for the day, with customers able to pick a design off the wall and book in all in the same day.

Ms Fanselow says the studio tattoos 40-60 customers on Flash Thursdays, compared to 6-12 on a usual day.

The event not only allows for a quick turnaround, but also serves as a social day out.

“We set up the PlayStation and the shisha outside. There’s quite a lot of people in the shop and it’s quite a cool vibe,” said 21-year-old tattoo artist Hannah Nova.

Seventh Day Studio will open from 12 pm to 12 am on June 2. More information can be found here.
