Heavy rainfall and strong winds are expected in Auckland over the next two days.
MetService has issued a strong wind warning from 8am Thursday to 1am Friday.
Severe gales blowing 120 km/h are expected in exposed areas.
MetService warns of possible damage to trees, powerlines and unsecured structures.
A heavy rain watch is in place from 3am Thursday to noon Friday.
Periods of heavy rain are forecast, with surface flooding, slips and rising streams and rivers possible.
MetService says Aucklanders should clear their drains and gutters, secure items that can be picked up by strong wind, avoid low-lying areas and to drive cautiously.
